Morning Rounds – Starting the Day Right

As a service technician at Knight Heating & Air Conditioning, my day typically begins before sunrise. After checking my schedule on the tablet, I load up the service van with essential parts and tools, knowing that Southwest Missouri weather can be unpredictable.

First Call – Ductless Installation

My first appointment takes me to a historic home in Springfield where the homeowners are making the switch to a ductless HVAC system. These efficient units are becoming increasingly popular, especially in older homes where traditional ductwork would be intrusive or impractical.

Midday Emergency

Just as I’m wrapping up the ductless installation, a call comes in from Nixa – an AC system has stopped working during a hot summer day. This is why we always keep emergency slots open in our schedule. After diagnosing the issue, it turns out to be a failing capacitor, a common but crucial component that needs immediate attention.

Afternoon Maintenance

The afternoon involves routine maintenance checks in Ozark, including:
– Filter inspections and replacements
– Thermostat calibration
– Condenser coil cleaning
– System performance testing

End of Day Boiler Service

My final call takes me to an older property in Republic where a boiler system needs attention. These systems require specialized knowledge, and I take pride in maintaining both modern and traditional heating equipment.

Throughout the day, customer education is just as important as the technical work. Whether I’m in Battlefield, Sparta, or anywhere in between, helping homeowners understand their HVAC systems leads to better maintenance and longer-lasting equipment.

As the sun sets, I complete my service reports and prepare for tomorrow’s calls, knowing that each day brings new challenges and opportunities to help our community stay comfortable year-round.
